LibKey Nomad - Browser extension for downloading full text

The Nomad LibKey browser extension is a free add-on that allows access to Bar-Ilan’s subscribed full text articles – which can also be used outside of the Libraries and Information Division of Bar-Ilan library website.

Two prominent advantages:

  • The add-on displays information from Retraction Watch regarding retracted articles from journals and details the ethical reasons that caused the article to be retracted.
  • Problematic Publishers (TIPP) – Third Iron – When searching for articles in Primo and EDS, a warning icon will appear next to articles published in journals associated with problematic publishers (label: "Journal flagged as problematic by TIPP").
    Installing the LibKey Nomad extension will also enable users browsing publisher websites, PubMed, ResearchGate, and other platforms to receive alerts about journals or domains associated with entities classified as problematic (Problematic Domain).
  • Collaboration between the extension and Consensus, an AI-powered scholarly article search tool – Searches conducted in Consensus will display direct access to the full text when it is available through the Libraries and Information Division collections. To enable this feature, users must register with Consensus using their Bar-Ilan University email address as part of the registration process.

How to install the browser extension:

  • Click on the link to the browser extension page. After downloading the LibKey add-on, select Bar-Ilan University at the prompt for your institutional subscription. Then type your access password to the Single Sign-On system.

  • That's it! You can now start using the system.
    Simply search for articles in the search box as usual. When you click the search button, a Download PDF link with the following icon will appear. Clicking the icon will allow you to retrieve the article with a single click.
