About the Library
The library is the faculty library of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The Department of Economics and the Department of Psychology each have separate libraries.
The purpose of the library is to provide the university community with reference services and access to information sources, knowledge, and data.
Library services are available to all students, faculty members, and staff of Bar-Ilan University.

Reference Services / Information Assistance
Reference services are intended for students and faculty members of Bar-Ilan University.
The library offers reference desks on the ground floor, and during certain hours also at the entrance level, where assistance is available for locating information in the library catalog and databases, as well as guidance on how to search for information independently.
Assistance is available between 08:30–19:30.

Throughout the year, group tutorials are provided on the use of library databases according to lecturers' requirements.

Location and Facilities
The Social Sciences library is located on the first and ground floors in building 213 (The Mexico building for social sciences). Entrance to the library is possible on both floors.
Readers have access to computers which are connected to printers, open wireless network (Wi-Fi), and photocopying and scanning machines.
Responsibility for the photocopying and printing machines lies with the “Zilumatic” company.
Book Return Box
A book return box is available for readers during hours when the library is closed.
The box is located at the entrance to the library on the first floor.
Group Learning Spaces
The library has designated Areas 3, 5, and 6 on the ground floor as group learning spaces.
Collections
The library’s book collection is rich and diverse, and includes items in both print and electronic formats.
Access to electronic books is available through the Libraries and Information Division’s catalog.
The Social Sciences Library includes several collections: general books, "E" books, reserved books, reference books, research papers for master’s and doctoral degrees, and journals in Hebrew and English.
Collections on the Upper Floor:
- "E" Book Collection
This collection includes books primarily focused on various topics in the social sciences and related to the State of Israel.
Books are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal Classification and may be borrowed for one week.
- Reserved Books Collection
This collection includes textbooks required for courses.
Books are arranged alphabetically and marked with a brown label.
Most books may be borrowed for three days; some are available for overnight loan only.
- Reference Collection
This collection includes reference materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, lexicons, and more.
Books are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal Classification and are not available for borrowing.
- Research Papers Collection
This collection includes master’s and doctoral theses in Hebrew and English.
Hebrew-language papers are located behind the circulation desk and are available for in-library use only, upon presentation of a valid ID.
Copies of some papers are available in Cabinet 1 on the upper floor and may be borrowed for one week.
Papers are arranged on the shelves by the author’s last name.
English-language papers are located at the end of Cabinet 1 and are also arranged by author name.
Most are for in-library use only, though some copies may be borrowed for one week.
Most recent papers, in both Hebrew and English, are also available in electronic format.
Collections on the Ground Floor:
- General Book Collection
This collection includes books on various topics in the social sciences.
Books are arranged on the shelves according to the Dewey Decimal Classification and may be borrowed for one week.
- Journal Collection (Hebrew and English)
Journals are arranged alphabetically on the shelves.
Recent issues are displayed on the display shelves.- Bound Hebrew journals are located in Area 4.
- Bound journals from the Literature Collection are located in Area 5.
- Bound English journals are located in Areas 5 and 6.
- The display of new issues (including the Literature Collection) is located in Area 5.
Journals are not available for borrowing.
