Citation Rules APA7

Bibliographic registration rules

Arrangement of the bibliographic list

1) The language of the sources. A separate list should be created for sources in Hebrew, which should appear first. After that, a list should be created for sources in foreign languages. All types of sources (print, electronic) should appear within each list.

2) The sources should not be numbered.

3) The order of the sources in the list. They should be listed in alphabetical order, according to the authors' last names, with exceptions (for details, see sections 9 and 10).

4) Different authors with the same last name should be listed in alphabetical order of their first names.
For example, Lipshitz, G. will appear in the list before Lipshitz, H.

5) Different sources by the same author should be listed by date, with the older source
preceding the newer source. An undated publication by the same author will appear
first and a publication by him that has not yet been published will appear last.
In foreign languages, the abbreviation for publication without a date is (.n.d),
and for publication not yet published (in press)
Examples of notation in Hebrew:
Lifshitz, H. (H.T.). Title of publication.
Lifshitz, H. (2011). Title of publication.
Lifshitz, H. (2015). Title of publication.
Lifshitz, H. (in press). Title of publication.

6) Different sources by the same author published in the same year should be listed alphabetically by source. For example, the two chapters of Heftsiba Lifshitz's books were published in 2015:
"Exclusion to Inclusion" and "Practical Gerontology".
List "Practical Gerontology" first.
To distinguish between the two publications, they should be listed alphabetically:
Lifshitz, H. (2015a). Practical Gerontology.
Lifshitz, H. (2015b). Exclusion to Inclusion.

7) Sources with the same author and title should be listed according to the year of publication.
For example, the two editions of "Child and Adolescent Psychology: An Introduction to Developmental Psychology", both written by Solberg, Shaul.
List the older edition (1994) before the newer one (2007).

8) An author who appears once as a sole author and once as the first author among several authors.
The first source (sole author) will precede the source written by several authors.
For example, in the book "Klim Shlovim" Ehud Luz is the sole author.
On the other hand, "Ha'adam Be Sipur Gan Edan" was written jointly with other authors,
with Ehud Luz as the main author. "Klim Shlovim" will be listed first.

9) There is no author. The name of the source/entry should be stated first and listed in alphabetical order, and refer
to the first significant word. That is, the words A, An, The
(or equivalent words in other languages) should be ignored if they appear at the beginning of the name of the source/entry.
For example, the book "The chinuch of the Kibbutz"
is an adaptation without an author. It should be added to the letter ח' according to the title, and the "The" should be ignored.

10) Corporation as author. Must be listed in alphabetical order, and refer to the first significant word.
That is, ignore the words A, An, The (or equivalent words in other languages)
if they appear at the beginning of the organization's name.

11) Secondary source. Must list the details of the book / article you have, not the original text.
For example, if Piaget is quoted in Margaret Boden, and you did not read directly from Piaget's book, list Boden as the source.

Mention or quote in the body of the work

1) In-text citation refers to citing the sources as part of the text of your work, whether it is a direct quote or not.
Each author appearing in the bibliographic list must also appear in the body of the work and vice versa.

2) The number of authors is what affects the in-text citation, not the nature of the publication (printed book, printed article or electronic source).

3) Citation: Stating the author's idea in your own wording, with their name appearing outside the parentheses.

4) Direct quotation: Quoting the author in their own wording, using quotation marks and indicating the specific pages where the idea appears.

In this case, it is mandatory to list the source as shown in the examples below.

5) The number of authors or the name of a corporation (organization) affects the listing from the second citation onwards.
A corporation, in this context, is an organization that appears in place of a human author. For example, the Mofet Institute, the Ministry of Education, etc.

6) Multiple sources that appear together: When an idea that appears in different sources is mentioned in one sentence,
they should all be mentioned in the same parentheses. Sometimes it is the same author and sometimes it is different authors.

The following are the guidelines:

a) The same author, more than one of his sources, the same year of publication:
(last name, year of publication to which is attached a letter indicating the number of the source in alphabetical order,
year of publication to which is attached a letter indicating the number of the source in alphabetical order).
Example: Lifshitz states in her articles that... (Lifshitz, 2024a, 2024b).
Source number: The item that was published earlier in the same year will be given the letter A, the second the letter B, etc.
The letters should be attached to the year of publication. In Hebrew, it should be written א, ב, etc. In a foreign language, it should be written a, b, etc.

b) Same author, more than one source, different years of publication:
(last name, year of earlier publication, year of later publication).
Example: Altman states in her articles that... (Altman, 2022, 2024).
If the same author has both an undated publication and an unpublished publication,
the sources should be listed as follows:
The argument is based on several studies by the author (Altman, 2022, 2024, in press).
In a foreign language, .n.d should be listed for an undated publication and in press for an unpublished publication.

c) The same idea appears in different sources (separate article for each author):
(last name, year of publication; last name, year of publication).
Example: The topic discussed in the articles by Altman and Lifshitz is... (Altman, 2022; Lifshitz, 2024).
Authors: The authors should be listed in alphabetical order of their last names.
In the above example, Altman precedes Lifshitz. The year of publication does not affect the order of listing.
Punctuation: Contrary to the use of commas in the previous sections, if different authors have written articles different,
They should be separated by a semicolon.
d) The same idea is quoted from different authors with the same last name.
The initials of their first names should also be listed, as they appear in the bibliographic list.
For example, (Lifshitz, H. 2024; Lifshitz, M. 2006).
